Something new!
I’m starting a new thing…What to Wear Wednesday!
So, what prompted this new thing? Your response whenever I post What to Wear items with links in my Instagram stories!
You all love them, so out of that What to Wear Wednesday was born.
What you can expect:
-
what to wear inspiration
-
links to clothing items
-
brands shared
-
family styling
I plan on mixing things up on two Wednesdays a month (the first and third Wednesday of each month). Clothing and links will be in my Instagram stories and right here on my blog!
Why start with mom?
Because that’s where I tell you to start when choosing outfits for your session. Mom comes first, especially if she’s just had a baby!
Basic tips:
-
keep it comfortable
-
keep it light in color
-
think movement and flow
-
do the “sit test”
Not sure what the sit test is? Basically it just means you need to be able to comfortably sit in what you’re wearing without having to tug and readjust constantly. And this is why I recommend dresses!
Dresses have movement and flow and they are soft and comfortable. They are also feminine.
Now, I occasionally get a mom who isn’t a fan of dresses. Maybe she doesn’t like the way she looks in them or she really just prefers separates – that’s fine! I want you to feel like YOU!
A little side story…
When I got married my mom really wanted me to get my hair done – like a fancy updo. But that just wasn’t me. I wanted to look like me on my wedding day. After many arguments I won out. I did my own hair on my wedding day and to this day I love the way I look in the pictures…it’s 100% me.
So, please don’t choose to wear a dress for your session if dresses aren’t your thing! Pants or jeans with a beautiful blouse or sweater work well, too!
The Dresses
Below you’ll find a wide range of dresses at various price points (Amazon, Tuckernuck, J. Crew, H&M, Hillhouse). You’ll see a lot of white and cream – I want my clients to pop and a blank/neutral canvas does that!
Other brands I adore are Zara and Anthropologie. Target has been known to have some fabulous finds, too.
