Three and Cancer Free

This was a very special session. This was a session that was very much anticipated and well planned. As a West End family photographer, it was with great JOY that I captured this family’s JOY!

What made this sessions so special? Eden. Faith. Family. The session celebrated Eden turning three and being cancer free! Yes, you read that correctly, CANCER FREE! Eden (and her family) has been through so much in her short life. Open heart surgery and beating acute myeloid leukemia.  In three years, she has done all that with the love and support of her family and an amazing community of Eden prayer warriors. Eden has an amazing, strong family that has supported and loved her every step of this journey.

I first met Eden and her mom and grandma when she was just four months old.  We did sweet pictures of her on her back and tummy and a few with her big brothers. Eden has graced my studio many times since that first session and I have gotten to know her family well. Sometimes mom brings her and sometimes grandma and it’s even more fun when they both bring her! We have done sessions at my studio, at their home, and this fall we met at a park. I look forward to each and every session with this family.

Jody wanted to do something extra special to celebrate Eden’s birthday. She wanted to also celebrate kicking cancer to the curb! She envisioned a big field with lots of blue sky and balloons.  Pink for Eden and orange for leukemia.  Finding the perfect field was a challenge. Most of the fields around here have crops or lots of pine trees, but Jody found one!  I got a text and a pinned location sent to me one morning…and it was perfect! Weather.  The weather needed to cooperate, too. We needed a relatively warm morning (I shoot early this time of year!) and sun.  That blue sky wasn’t going to look nearly as blue if it wasn’t a clear day.

On the day of the session, the sun shone brightly and Eden brought the joy and smiles. It was a perfect session for a little girl who is an inspiration and to a family that has loved fiercely and strongly and fought hard for their Eden Jewel. Thank you, Priest Family for letting me capture this momentous occasion!
