Outdoor Family Session

It’s Fall y’all! And for photographers that means BUSY!  Everyone wants family pictures before the holidays for cards and gifts and to remember how much their kids have grown in one year.I have 16+ Fall Family Sessions scheduled this year and I am about 3/4 of the way through them. Knock on wood – the weather has cooperated (as have the kids!)

A different approach…

I have always gotten a mix of images at my family sessions. Posed and more relaxed interactive pictures – with an emphasis on the posed because that’s what most people want on their holiday cards. This year, I am getting the posed images, but then focusing more on the relaxed, fun pictures!Why? I get better smiles and calmer kids (sometimes). Joke telling has been big this year.  Usually first through fourth graders have some good jokes and their parents ALWAYS laugh at them – because they are your kids and they are typically really, bad jokes!I love watching the way families interact in this part of the session.  The way dad looks at mom, a little girl holds her dad’s hand, and just the overall fun these families have together! Because in the end don’t you want to remember the fun? Don’t you want to remember the giggles and silly faces. I know I want to!

Did I miss it?

Well, actually, you did.  I only take about 20 Outdoor Family Sessions a year and they book up fast!  Like over half were booked in July when I released the info (thank you to my loyal clients!) But, not to worry!  I offer Spring Family Sessions, too.I will release the info in early February for my April session dates and times. And Spring is a fabulous time to get family pictures! Everything is lush and green and there are usually some flowers here and there.
