A Journey

Photography is like life, a journey. When I started newborn photography in 2013, the styles were very different. Posed newborn sessions were all the rage and that was what I decided to offer my clients. I spend HOURS perfecting my newborn posing.  I took numerous classes, went to a conference, mentored with some of the BEST posed newborn photographers out there. And I loved it! In addition, I loved coming up with the set-ups and I celebrated when I was able to perfect a pose.I provided stunning portraits for my clients.

Simply Newborn Sessions

Over time, I honestly became a little bored with posed newborn sessions.  I loved working with the families and newborns, but I wanted more variety. So, I tried to capture some natural poses, too. A little yawn and big stretch.  The little faces newborns make. Then in 2017, I introduced the Simply Newborn Session to my clients.  It was just that…simple. An all white set-up with the baby or wrapped or in a long sleeved onesie. This session was quick and many times the baby was awake for most or all of the session.

A Transition into Newborn Lifestyle Photography

About six months ago, I started experimenting with even less posing in my newborn sessions. And I LOVED what I was capturing. You might remember that I went to Texas this summer and trained with Lifestyle Newborn Photographer – Sabrina Gebhardt.  For years I have followed her on social media and admired her work. The whole experience was so eye opening.  The angles she uses and the reason she uses them. The controlled chaos in the session (especially with siblings). Working with her exposed me to all the possibilities and a whole new genre for me – Newborn Lifestyle Photography.

All New for 2019

I have been slowly rolling out my Lifestyle Sessions. I have done a few with existing clients and I have a handful booked for the coming months. And starting in 2019 I am THRILLED to be offering TWO session options for your family!In-home Newborn Lifestyle Sessions – that’s right, I come to you!  You don’t have to leave your house at all. I will capture your family in the place you are most comfortable.  Your home!  This session includes the whole family (the furry kind, too).  The session is all inclusive – meaning you get the digital images and a beautiful keepsake album.What if you don’t want to have pictures taken in your home?  Maybe it’s a rental or you about to move – I have something for you, too! A Newborn Family Session in the Studio! Bring your family to the studio and I will capture you and your baby in a relaxed environment.  The focus will be on the baby. Studio Lifestyle Sessions are also all inclusive, too!
