A Southern’s Pines Children’s Boutique
What makes Belli Bambini on Broad Street in Southern Pines so special? Mel DeLancy! Mel has owned Belli Bambini (formally called Special Things) since 2005. She says that Southern Pines was like Mayberry…unique boutiques, family environment where you could walk to the park with your children, stroll by the post office, sit at the train station and grab some ice cream. The perfect place to help families, moms and grandmothers find the perfect outfits for their little ones. And that is exactly what Mel does! She helps people and really gets to know them.
She loves when people walk in the shop and sigh in delight because it reminds them of the clothes they wore growing-up or reminds a grandmother of their motherhood days. Mel has all the classics, Feltman Brothers, Petit Ami, John Johns, smocked dresses, knee socks, saddle shoes and classic white hard sole leather high tops – just like the ones you, your parents, and your grandparents wore!
Mel says she has always had a love for all things baby…after all, she has had five. Yes, she is a mother of FIVE! She loved walking through the baby sections in stores when she was little and looking at sweet babies in strollers. And not much has changed! She still goes to Market to choose the perfect new additions for her shop several times a year and loves seeing babies and children come in the shop.
Mel is also a woman on a mission. She will find you that special item! She just this week had a woman expecting twin boys come in with her husband’s outfit from 34 years ago to see if Mel could find a similar outfit so her boys could match. And Mel said she is going to find it just so she can see those sweet babies in matching outfits. Dedication, determination and a lot of energy.
Mel keeps Belli Bambini fully stocked with the perfect outfits for your portrait sessions. She has beautiful layette items for newborn boys and girls – perfect to dress your newborn for their Lifestyle Session!
Thank you for letting me come invade your shop for the afternoon.
And a BIG thank you to Miss B for being our model. She’s a trip!
