I wrote a love letter and it wasn’t to my husband…gasp!
No, I wanted to write a little love note to you. My DC clients. Because you’re the real MVPs in my business.
When I first started my business in 2013 – mainly because my “little” hobby was becoming pricey and doing pictures for free was getting old – I had no idea that I would still be in business almost 10 years later! I wanted something to do once my boys were in school full time and volunteering at their schools wasn’t really a full-time thing. Although, I did enjoy it!
I fell into newborn photography simply because I said “YES!” to someone who inquired about newborn pictures. And it was because of this client (who I went on to do numerous sessions for over a three year span before they moved away) that I found what really made my heart sing. Capturing families with their new additions. I owe everything to this client.
And through educating myself to become a better photographer and business owner (who knew running a small business was so much business;) I honed my craft, evolved it and met all my photography besties! But, I also made amazing connections with you.
Meeting mamas at the most vulnerable and emotional time in their lives has been a blessing. Following their (your) journey as a new mom to a mom to two or more children has been a joy.
Talking with moms about their struggles and triumphs and really getting to know you is what I needed, but didn’t know I was missing.
So, I just want you to know that you, my clients, are so appreciated. I love what I do because of you. Thank you. I can’t imagine my business (or life) without you.

2023 marks TEN YEARS in business. WHAT!?! I can hardly believe it.

A little postscript
A little about this session…Kalyn is a very talented photographer in the DMV and I was BEYOND thrilled and touched and crazy nervous when she reached out to me for a family session. Let me tell you, that’s the ultimate honor as a photographer – to photograph another photographer’s family!
So, after I worked through all the feelings, I was pumped! And this session did not disappoint. Her house was filled with light and her family was so much fun.
