When Kids Have Their Own Plan
Sometimes (ok – basically all the time), kids have their own agenda. They know when and where they are going to cooperate. And I’ve found as a DC Child Photographer that sometimes their ideas are the BEST ideas.
I’ve also learned you just have to go with it! Let the chaos and fun take over.
Simple – adj. – plain, basic, or uncomplicated in form, nature, or design
Childhood – noun – the state of being a child
This session captured simple childhood, but that wasn’t how it started out! The session was booked as a Family Session for April. Then, Covid-19 happened and the world shutdown. Once the world (or NC) started to reopen we had to wait for haircuts and before you knew it it was mid-June.
Mom and dad decided they wanted to focus on the kids since they get family pictures in the fall (which really isn’t that far away!).
Big bro was smiling and picking flowers and running around from minute one. Little sis, not so much. She needed to warm-up to me and my camera. She clung to dad. In fact, she wouldn’t let dad put her down. And I was just giving time and focusing on her big bro.
Then something kind-of magical happened. Big brother jumped in a puddle.
That was it! Little sis joined in. Mom and dad couldn’t stop laughing. And simple childhood was captured full force.
What is better than puddle jumping with your parents looking on in hysterics?
Getting Dirty Can Be Fun!
Getting dirty and having fun is what childhood is all about and I’m so thankful to have clients who agree and are willing to let things unfold.
This is the email I got after mom saw the gallery, “Natasha !!! These pictures are amazing!!!!! We are SOOOO happy!!!!”
Words that make a DC child photographer’s heart sing! I’m glad they saw the magic I saw!
