When my clients hire me, they receive an extensive Session Prep Guide to help them feel confident in front of the camera, and I always share outfit styling tips as part of this guide.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times over the years I’ve heard my clients say, “We don’t know what to wear for family photos!”

My reply has been the same throughout my 11+ years of experience photographing newborns and families: “Let me help style your family!”

And I find myself going to find clothing at the same stores time and time again. Now, I’m so excited to share where I send my clients to shop with you, too!

Over the years, I’ve developed quite the knack (and the passion!) for helping my clients choose clothing options that photograph well and build a cohesive look with the rest of the family’s outfits. My process is relatively straightforward: I start by dressing Mom, based on what she’s comfortable wearing and feels beautiful in, and then I offer a few selections that coordinate (not match) for the rest of the family members.

Another tip? I try to stick to 3-4 colors max, and I love throwing in subtle patterns as well.
