New Year, New Me? | Georgetown Photographer

Who really follows through with a resolution?

It may be a new year, but it is NOT a new me! I’m the same as I was on December 31st.

In the past, I would choose a new year’s resolution – that’s what we were supposed to do, right? And about a week into the new year I had miserably failed. How many diets and fitness routines have I started over the years!?! Too many to count!

Words (or word) to Live By

And then about five years ago, I started to choose a word for the new year.

Just one word.

2021’s word was BOLD. I wanted to make bold decisions in my life and my business. I wanted to speak up and speak out. I wanted to live boldly. And you know what? I did! I took risks and went out of my comfort zone. Remember that retreat in California I went on…WAY out of my comfort zone!

The year before – yes, I have trouble even writing 2020 – it was GRACE. And I didn’t even know how much grace I would need to get through 2020! So much grace.

When trying to choose my 2022 word, I actually googled “word of the year ideas”. And a list of 100 words popped up. Consistent, persistent, dedicate, patience, present, but none of them really popped out at me. So, I thought on it. What were my real goals for 2022? What did I want to accomplish and be proud of?

My 2022 Word

Sure, my business was one, but my relationships were what I really wanted to grow. How do you grow something? You NURTURE it! And that’s how I came up with my word.

Nurture – verb – care for and encourage the growth and development of.

Yes, that was it! I want to nurture all the areas of my life.

I’m ready to embrace my word and live 2022 nurturing the things that mean the most to me!

So, do you have a word for 2022? Leave a comment and tell me what it is!
